Baseball roundup: Palatine, Antioch split

Palatine's baseball team used a 2-run rally in the bottom of the seventh inning to claim a 4-3 victory over visiting Antioch in the first game of their nonconference doubleheader Saturday.
In the second game, Antioch scored twice in the seventh inning to tie it, then added a run in the eighth to win 3-2.
In Game 1, with the Pirates trailing 3-2, Brent Penrose started the seventh-inning uprising with a single. Mike Nielsen then doubled to left, with Penrose advancing to third.
Matt Helms chased them both home with a triple to right field to end the game.
Nielsen also drove in 2 runs in the second inning with a single.
It was tied at 2-2 heading into the seventh, when Antioch scored a run on a pair of singles and a pair of errors.
Josh Stitt earned the win for Palatine (8-4) in relief.
John Petty led the way for Antioch with a 3-for-3 effort from the leadoff spot.
In Game 2, Palatine (8-5) out-hit the Sequoits 8-5, with Nielsen and Jake Andersen both finishing 2-for-4 with a double and Luke Stoffel contributing 2 hits.
But the Pirates commited 3 errors, and Jack Hopper suffered the loss despite not yielding an earned run in 2 relief innings.
St. Viator 18, Mishicot (Wis.) 2 (5 inn.): The host Lions rolled out an 18-run second inning to pick up a win against their out-of-state foes.
Michael Wittich led an 11-hit attack with a pair of doubles and 4 RBI, and Kevin Willhite finished 3-for-3 and scored twice.
Jack Mahoney struck out six in 2 innings to get the win for St. Viator (7-1).
Buffalo Grove 10, Glenbrook North 8: The host Bison built a big lead, then weathered a 5-run rally in the seventh for a nonconference victory.
Riley Rundquist and Mac Camardo both finished 2-for-3 with 3 RBI for the Bison (5-3). Both had an extra-base hit as well, with Camardo doubling and Rundquist tripling.
Connor Adams allowed 2 earned runs over 5 innings to get the win, and Andy Greenberg notched a save.
Other big Bison contributors included Zack Fricke (2-for-3, 3 runs), TJ Constertina (2 runs) and Matt Brunelli (2 RBI).
Lincoln-Way East 9, Hersey 1: Daniel Clawson had a double for the host Huskies (3-7-1), but Lincoln-Way East allowed only 4 hits in earning a nonconference win.
