Elk Grove Village Named 2017 Tree City USA

Elk Grove Village has been named a 2017 Tree City USA community and awarded the prestigious Growth Award by the Arbor Day Foundation. The Tree City USA program recognizes excellence in urban forestry management and environmental improvement. The Growth Award is a further distinction, which honors communities that have committed to a higher level of tree care.

The Village has continually demonstrated an exceptional commitment to maintaining a robust urban forest. Since 2012, Elk Grove Village has planted 4,100 trees throughout the community, and an additional 1,450 trees will be planted over the next three years.

Elk Grove Village recognizes that a vibrant tree canopy population contributes to both the environmental health and the aesthetic pride of the community and has been proactive in maintaining a diverse stock of replacement trees. This planning has allowed the Village to plant larger, more mature trees, measuring 4" in diameter and typically 6-7 feet in height.

This is the 33rd consecutive year the Village received the Tree City USA designation and the 4th consecutive year the Village received the Growth Award.
