Baseball: Cary-Grove edges Prairie Ridge in 8

Billy Blank singled and eventually scored on a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning Thursday as Cary-Grove downed Prairie Ridge 4-3 in Fox Valley Conference baseball action.

Jake MacDuff had a double and 2 RBI for the Trojans (6-1-1).

Ryan Ignoffo picked up the win with two innings of relief, allowing 1 hit with 4 strikeouts and a walk. Brandon Meinke gave up 4 hits and 1 earned run in six innings as the starter.

Dundee-Crown 8, Hampshire 4: Zack Hahn (2 hits), Erik Hedmark (2B) and Ray Gestrich (2 RBI) led the Chargers (2-5) to this FVC win. Nick Gregory was the winning pitcher. Hampshire fell to 7-3 with the loss.

McHenry 9, CL South 4: Blake Kuffel had 2 hits and Noah Tyrell added a double for Crystal Lake South (3-3-1). The Gators committed 7 errors in the FVC loss.

Riverside-Brookfield 5, St. Edward 1: Jack Olson had 3 hits and an RBI for St. Edward (2-9) in the Metro Suburban.
