Naperville Islamic Center offers Open Mosque Day
The Islamic Center of Naperville will welcome visitors during an Open Mosque Day this month to continue the dialogue and friendships that have been built over the years.
Organizers say they expect as many as 1,000 guests of all faiths to visit the mosque between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Sunday, April 15, at 2844 W. Ogden Ave.
The open house is designed for a moving crowd where guests can visit anytime during the five-hour period. The mosque will have booths that present different aspects of the Islamic faith, where people can ask questions, meet the Imam (religious scholar), interact with people from the congregation or observe the afternoon congregational prayer at 1:30 p.m.
Guests also can tour the mosque; visit multimedia exhibits called "Journey Through Time" and "The Great Women in Islam;" or stop by a booth to get their names written in Arabic calligraphy. Women can get henna on their hands and try on a hijab.
Food will be available from the Middle East and South Asia.
