Judson's Graduate Programs in Literacy Education to host research colloquium April 10

Judson University's Graduate Programs in Literacy Education will host a research colloquium at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, in the Creekside South Education Building, Room 121, 1151 N. State St., Elgin.

The department sponsors two such events each academic year. The colloquia are one hour in length and provide opportunities to engage with current research being conducted in the field of literacy.

The spring guest speaker will be Dr. Marcus Croom, a recent graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago. He will present his research entitled, "Theory and Method in Race Critical Literacy Research."

Dr. Croom offers an alternative theory of race and demonstrates how this alternative explanation of race - practice of race theory - has been used to investigate the teaching of literacy.

No registration is required for this event, which is free and open to the public.
