Elgin pastor begins sermon series on his 40 years of ministry

As retirement approaches, the Rev. Paris Donehoo is embarking on a sermon series called "My Exit Interview" at First Congregational Church of Elgin, 256 E. Chicago St. He will attempt to sum up beliefs and thoughts garnered from 40 years in ministry, and 16 years at FCC.

On Sunday, April 8, Rev. Donehoo will preach on "Grace That Is Greater" based on Ephesians 2:1-10 and Matthew 20:1-16, at both the 8:15 and 10:15 a.m. services. He will explore grace and salvation.

At the 10:15 a.m. service, the Chancel Choir will sing "O, For a Shout of Sacred Joy" by Alice Parker. The service also will include a reaffirmation of faith by those who have completed "The Way.

A baked potato lunch will be offered Sunday, April 15, immediately following the 10:15 a.m. service. The $5 meal will include delicious salads, baked potatoes with all kinds of toppings, as well as yummy desserts. Proceeds will help fund the Youth Ministry mission trip to the Native American Reservation in Red Lake, Minn. this summer.
