Baseball: Naperville Central, Downers Grove South, West Chicago win
<h3 class="leadin">Naperville Central 10, Glenbard North 4:</h3>
The Redhawks (4-2, 1-0) broke out to a 7-0 lead to win the DuPage Valley Conference opener. Payton Thorne, Patrick Boyer and Sam Hojnar combined for 7 RBI. Winning pitcher Jared Suchevits allowed 3 hits in 5 innings. Dom Rotundo doubled and drove in 3 runs for Glenbard North (4-2, 0-1).
<h3 class="leadin">Downers Grove South 6, Addison Trail 1:</h3>
The Mustangs (4-2, 1-0) exploded for 5 runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to claim the West Suburban Gold victory. Cameron Crowley struck out 11 in a complete-game performance. Keegan Garland homered. Nick Daudelin struck out 10 in 6 innings for Addison Trail (3-4, 0-1).
<h3 class="leadin">West Chicago 6, Waubonsie Valley 1:</h3>
Bobby Bartlett needed only 74 pitches for the complete-game win for the Wildcats (3-2). Michael Sawicki homered and drove in 2 runs. Cade McHenry also had 2 RBI. Zach Bebar went 3-for-3 for Waubonsie Valley (1-5).
<h3 class="leadin">Benet 6, Marmion 1:</h3>
Collin Berry and Connor Hincks, who drove in 2 runs, each had 2 hits in support of winning pitcher Chris Perry, who struck out seven in 5 innings.
<h3 class="leadin">IC Catholic Prep 3, Fenton 0:</h3>
C.J. West fired a 5-hitter with 5 strikeouts for the Knights (4-4, 1-0) in the Metro Suburban Conference victory. West also drove in a run. Jose Alvarez went 2-for-4 for Fenton (1-4, 0-1).
<h3 class="leadin">Timothy Christian 4, Walther Christian 3:</h3>
The Trojans (6-4, 1-0) scored 3 runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to rally for the Metro Suburban Conference victory. Connor Gwaltney drove in 2 runs and Jimmy Allen won on the mound.
<h3 class="leadin">Glenbard East 10, Glenbard South 7:</h3>
Jack Oberli, Bret Bushka and Jack Crackel combined for 7 RBI as the Rams (5-3) won the nonconference matchup. Taylor Westerhoff was the winning pitcher. Mike Paprota went 2-for-3 and drove in 3 runs for Glenbard South (2-6-1).
<h3 class="leadin">Naperville North 11, Romeoville 3:</h3>
Winning pitcher Jack Whitley improved to 3-0 as the Huskies improved to 5-1 on the season. Whitley and Jack DuRoss each drove in 2 runs.
