Workshop walks families through applying to college

The Glenbard Parent Series: Navigating Healthy Families will present "Calming the Nerves - How to Survive the College Application Process: From Application to Acceptance Step by Step" with journalist Christine VanDeVelde.

VanDeVelde, a best-selling author, will present compassionate and professional advice regarding finding a college that's the right fit and more. Participants will learn:

• The role of extracurricular activities

• Whether high grades or challenging courses are more important

• The role testing plays

• The best candidates for early admission

• Advice for student athletes

• How waitlists work

• Recent changes to the college application process

• The financial aid process

The program begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 10, at the College of DuPage's McAninch Arts Center, 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn.
