Batavia Plain Dirt Gardeners to host annual plant sale May 12

The Batavia Plain Dirt Gardeners invite you to their plant sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 12, at Bethany Lutheran Church, 8 S. Lincoln St. in Batavia.

Native wildflowers, perennials, ferns, hostas, prairie plants, grasses and many unusual plant varieties will be available. Most plants are dug from club members own gardens. Expert gardeners will be available to answer plant questions.

Proceeds from the plant sale support the Batavia Wildflower Sanctuary along the riverwalk in Batavia. Arrive early for the best selection.

Club members are joining in the "Wednesday Walkabout," a free community fitness walk in downtown Batavia every Wednesday. Beginning March 28, meet at 11:45 a.m. in the plaza at the south end of Batavia City Hall, 100 N. Island Ave. Join in a three-mile walk up to Fabyan Forest Preserve and back or a one-mile fitness walk around Riverrain on the Riverwalk. All are welcome. Wear good walking shoes and dress according to weather. Visit cityofbatavia.net and select the "Community Events" tab at 11 a.m. each Wednesday to confirm the "Walk is On!"
