Pakistan Resolution Day celebrated in Several parts in Chicago and its suburbs

The 78th Pakistan Day was celebrated in several parts of Chicago and its suburbs with national enthusiasm. The main Pakistan Day ceremony was held in Chicago at Riaz Waraich Auditorium, East West University and another was at the Shalimar restaurant Villa Park, where local singers presented national anthem, several national songs and highlighted the importance of the Pakistan Resolution Day. The Riaz Waraich Auditorium event was made more special with the attendance of many dignitaries including the Consul General of Pakistan, Chicago Mr. Faisal Niaz Tirmazi and Several of prominent Pakistani-Americans, many regional political leaders and members of the Diplomatic Corps attended the event. Lt. Governor of Illinois Ms. Evelyn Sanguinetti was the chief guest of the event. While speaking at the event, Lt. Governor Sanguinetti appreciated the role of Pakistani-American community for the social and economic development of the United States. She also appreciated the role of the Pakistan Consulate Chicago for its efforts to strengthen ties between both the countries.

Congressman Peter Roskam and Congressmen Danny K. Davis also attended the event. While speaking at the event they besides congratulating the Pakistani people on the occasion they highlighted their ties with strong Pakistani-American community in the Midwest. Congratulatory messages of the Governor Bruce Rauner of Illinois, Attorney General Lisa Madigan of Illinois, Mayor Rahm Emanuel of Chicago and Mayor Roger C. Claar of Bolingbrook were also read out at the event by their representatives. Governor Rick Synder of Michigan, Lt. Governor Brian of Michigan, Senator Gary C. Peters, Congressmen John Moolenaar, Luke Messer,André Carson and Paul Mitchell conveyed special congratulatory messages for the Pakistani-America community.

Consul General Faisal Niaz Tirmizi in his remarks briefed the guests about steady economic growth being gained by Pakistan through the rise of the middle class of the country. He said that Pakistan was also among a few countries which had pushed back the tide of extremism and bigotry and the playgrounds of the country are once again welcoming the international players. He further said that Pakistan has revised visa policy for tourists and encouraged the audience to motivate their families and friends for visits to Pakistan. He said that greater people to people and business to business relations are pillars of excellent relations between the countries.

Mr. Tirmizi also thanked the Governors, Senators and Congressmen from Midwestern States who sent congratulatory messages for the occasion to the Pakistani-American community.

A special documentary about Pakistan highlighting tourist attractions of the country was also screened at the event.
