Positive change in Congress, 6th Dist.

I've had the opportunity to get to know Amanda Howland, Democratic contender for the 6th District in Congress, and she clearly offers a more rational agenda than Peter Roskam and the Republican leaders who defend the Trump policies of punishing the poor and middle to reward the rich.

And, unlike Roskam, she participates in meetings and events in the 6th District to discuss all the issues. But, of course, she doesn't have to defend Trump's record.

Amanda Howland has name recognition from challenging Roskam last election cycle, winning about 42 percent of the votes. So, she also understands what it takes to run against a well-financed incumbent. And with Trump in office, she will likely face some nasty political attacks ads and tweets.

But, most importantly, she opposed Trump's tax plan for billionaires, destroying Obamacare, failure to invest in education and infrastructure, history of sexual misconduct, refusal to solve DACA/immigration, accusing the free press of being fake, undermining the credibility of the FBI and DOJ to stop the Mueller investigation of Russian collusion, obstruction of justice and money laundering.

Obviously, we desperately need a new direction in the 6th District. We can't continue to allow Roskam to enable an incompetent President to extinguish the promise of America for poor and middle class Americans while Trump, his family and friends get richer tweeting FOX News conspiracy theories or playing golf at Mar-A Largo.

Amanda Howland can provide the intelligence and local experience we need in the 6th District. Go to her website and see for yourself. Better yet, go to one of her events and ask questions. She actually has meetings. You'll see she isn't a lemming following a despot over a cliff.
