Round Lake Park pond search comes up empty

Lake County authorities searched a Round Lake Park retention pond early Wednesday morning trying to locate a 76-year-old man missing since March 4. Grayslake firefighters were dispatched to the pond near the intersection of Saddlebrook Drive and Alleghany Road at 7 a.m. on a report that Round Lake Park police spotted what they believed to be a car sunroof. A special Lake County sonar team was deployed to search the lake and determined there was no car in the pond. The missing man, Dale Kropke, was last seen just after 9:30 a.m. on his way to a doctor's appointment in a gold 2010 Toyota Prius with the license plate "BANI1."
