Ignite the Nite benefit salutes KidsMatter leader

A gala evening of stories and song performed by community leaders and students from Naperville's School of Performing Arts will salute KidsMatter Executive Director IdaLynn Wenhold as she retires after 17 years at the helm of the Naperville organization dedicated to empowering kids to say no to destructive choices and yes to endless possibilities.

The Ignite the Nite gala begins at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at Hotel Arista in Naperville. Cocktails, music and dinner will be followed by a cabaret performance titled "Tapestry," which will include an array of songs and stories illuminating KidsMatter's mission and Wenhold's passion to bring together community resources to help kids and families overcome the stressors that lead to depression and anxiety, bullying, cutting, drug and alcohol abuse, and suicide.

"We have created an inspirational evening that truly embodies the love and commitment IdaLynn has shown this community," Ignite the Nite producer Deborah Newman said.

"So many community leaders, students, members of the Collaborative Youth Team, KidsMatter board members and talented artists have collaborated to lift up both the cause and the woman behind it."

The dinner and performance begin at 7 p.m. An after party featuring a DJ for dancing will follow the performance, beginning about 9 p.m.

In addition to honoring Wenhold, the organization will welcome incoming CEO and Executive Director Kamala Martinez, who will take the reins later this spring.

A Fund-A-Need Silent Auction highlighting KidsMatter's Suicide Prevention Initiative, anti-bullying programs, student empowerment programs and ParentsMatterToo Support will be available throughout the evening.

Individual tickets are $175, while tables for 10 can be reserved for $1,700 or tables for 12 for $2,040. For donations, individual tickets or tables of 10 or 12, visit kidsmatter2us.org/ignite. Reservations must be made by Sunday, April 1.
