League to host candidate forums March 6-7
The League of Women Voters of the Elgin Area will host two more candidate forums for the March 20 primary.
• On Tuesday, March 6, Dundee/Rutland Townships Candidate Forum for judge in the 16th Circuit Court (Akemann vacancy) and U.S. 6th Congressional District Representative will begin at 7 p.m. at the Rakow Senior Center, 665 Barrington Ave., Carpentersville.
A candidate meet-and-greet will begin at 6:30 p.m.
Candidates invited to attend are: For Judge in the 16th Circuit Court, Republicans Elizabeth Flood, Thomas M. "Tom" Hartwell, and David P. Kliment, and Democrats Lark Cowart and Michael J. Noland; and for U.S. 6th Congressional District Representative, Democrats Sean Casten, Carole Cheney, Amanda Howland, Ryan Huffman, Kelly Mazeski, Becky Anderson Wilkins, and Jennifer Zordani.
The winner in the Democratic primary for the 6th Congressional race will run against Republican Peter Roskam in the November election.
• On Wednesday, March 7, the Elgin Candidate Forum for Kane County Clerk, Sheriff, and County Board Districts 17 and 19 at 6:30 p.m. at the Gail Borden Library, 270 N. Grove Ave. in Elgin.
A candidate meet-and-greet will begin at 6 p.m.
Candidates in the following primary races have been invited to attend: For Kane County Clerk, Republicans Stanton J. "Stan" Bond and John A. "Jack" Cunningham; for Kane County Sheriff, Republicans Donald E. Kramer and Kevin Tindall and Democrats Ron Hain and Willie M. Mayes, Sr.; for Kane County Board District 17, Democrats Deborah Allan and Janice Bennett; and for Kane County Board District 19, Democrats Thomas P. Gibbons, Mohammad "Mo" Iqbal, and John Jack Shales.
The primary election is March 20. Early voting is now offered only at the Kane County Clerk's Office, 719 S. Batavia Ave., Building B, in Geneva.
