District 15 students honored for artwork

Two Palatine Township Elementary District 15 students recently earned top honors for their art.

Winston Campus Junior High School's Sky Ramirez and Hayden Williams are advancing to national competition for the highly regarded Midwest Scholastic Art and Writing Awards.

Sky's painted cello, titled "Diversity," earned the top Gold Key honor in the sculpture category, and Hayden's work titled "Time Flies" notched the Gold Key honor in the digital art category.

Presented by the nonprofit organization the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards are the country's longest-running and most prestigious scholarship and recognition program for creative students in grades 7-12.
