Crespo endorses Kaegi for Cook County assessor

State Rep. Fred Crespo, a Hoffman Estates Democrat, broke with Cook County Democratic Chairman Joseph Berrios on Friday to endorse his March 20 primary opponent in the contest for Cook County assessor. "I am proud to endorse Fritz Kaegi," Crespo said, citing recent independent reports on the inaccuracy of assessments. "There is no doubt that we need new leadership to end the pay-to-play and fundamental injustice in the broken system," he said in opposing re-election of the two-term incumbent.
