Proviso East ends Leyden's season

Second-seeded Proviso posted a 78-28 triumph over No. 15 Leyden on Wednesday night in the semifinals of the Class 4A Chicago Mather girls basketball regional.

Nachelle Rouse scored 24 points and Dallyah Brown added 19 for the Pirates who improved to 26-2 while Leyden's season ended at 10-17.

"I could not be more proud of this group," said Eagles coach Stephanie Kuzmanic. They were hard working, determined and resilient. It's one of the most successful teams we have had in a long time."
