Decorum already gone from president's office

The Daily Herald Opinion piece, Wednesday, Jan. 31, was a cheap shot at Congresswoman Jan Schakowsky for not attending the State of the Union address. I stand with the congresswoman.

State of the Union attendance is not required for the congresswoman. It has become tradition to respectfully attend; however, decorum and tradition left this White House. The rhetoric and vulgarity is an everyday event belittling and debasing anyone and everyone.

The tradition of dignity and honor has been swept away. And, I as one of the 700,000 am sickened by the change.

The State of the Union has become political theater and this year was no different. I am glad we as Americans can turn our backs on the theater and turn our attention to the real job of the elected officials to protect the Constitution.

The real hypocrisy is in normalizing or accepting a president that is not presidential.
