Woodland Board Hires New School Business Official

An experienced school business official in a neighboring school district was named Thursday by the Woodland Board of Education as the new Associate Superintendent of Business Services, starting July 1, 2018.

Christopher Bobek has been leading the business office at Grayslake Community Consolidated District 46 since 2013. He started with an administrator internship and worked his way up to Assistant Superintendent of Finance & Business Operations. He will replace Associate Superintendent Robert Leonard, who is retiring August 31, 2018 after more than 20 years at Woodland District 50.

Woodland District 50 Superintendent Dr. Joy Swoboda said, "We will dearly miss Bob. He is an expert in his field and is admired and respected throughout Lake County and the state. Bob's dedication, conservative financial planning and passion for children will be greatly missed by all who have had the privilege to work with him. We welcome Chris to our district and look forward to the knowledge and contributions he will bring. We are fortunate to have his expertise at the helm."

"I am proud to have the opportunity and excited to be part of the Woodland District 50 team," Bobek said.

A native of Naperville, Bobek graduated from Naperville Central High School and earned a bachelor's degree in finance from Indiana University. He proceeded to earn a master's degree in business administration from DePaul University in 2004 and he received a Type 75 Chief School Business Official Endorsement from Northern Illinois University's School Business Administration Masters Certification Program in 2008. At Grayslake District 46, which has approximately 3,900 students; he supervises the business office, which includes finance, benefits, human resources and payroll, plus he oversees operations and maintenance, transportation and food service staff.
