Snow matter what, Geneva Super Shuffle 5K goes on
Chilly winds and a snow-covered route weren't nearly enough Sunday to stop dozens of hearty runners from trotting on the trails near Geneva Middle School South for the Geneva Park District's 13th annual Super Shuffle 5K.
The yearly run serves as a fundraiser for the park district's scholarship fund, which provides recreational opportunities to the community.
The fastest finishes Sunday was Pol Nabben of South Elgin, who completed the race in a time of 17 minutes, 8 seconds. The top woman finisher was McKenzie Altmayer of Geneva, who ran the course in a time of 20 minutes, 14 seconds.
After the race, participants could go over to the Stephen D. Persinger Gym for the game day party with beverages, food and more.
