Dundee-Crown powers past Maine East
Dundee-Crown 70, Maine East 25: The Dundee-Crown girls basketball team cracked the 70-point mark for the first time this season with a 70-25 nonconference win over Maine East Saturday. The Chargers (15-8) used 10 scorers, including 4 in double figures in their fourth straight win to overwhelm the Blue Demons. Alyssa Crenshaw led D-C with 13 points while Payton Schmidt added 12 points and both Maddie Tripp and Mia Deegan each had 10.
Aurora Christian 76: South Beloit 23: The Eagles will take a 7-game winning streak into their own regional next week thanks to a regular season-ending win that also concluded Northeastern Atheltic action. Aurora Christian (18-7, 8-1), which will open against No. 6 Hinckley-Big Rock next week, saw Tori Henning total 21 points and 4 three pointers while Alexandra Fry went for 17 points and 3 three-pointers. Lauren Richert also had 16 points and 2 threes.
Cary-Grove 43, Hampshire 35: Maddie Jannusch helped the Trojans (14-10, 8-5) bounce back from a loss to St. Charles North Tuesday with 15 points and a Fox Valley Conference win over the Whip-Purs (13-12, 8-6). Hampshire struggled from the floor shooting 24 percent but Lauren Herrmann nailed 2 threes for a team-high 13 points.
Huntley 28, CL South 24: The Red Raiders (7-19, 4-10) snapped a 2-game skid with a FVC win over the Gators (7-17, 2-12). Kamsi Nwogu led Huntley with 10 points while Mallory Moffett's 2 threes helped her total 8 points. South's Lauren Schoen posted a 2 threes and a game-high 13 points.
McHenry 49, Jacobs 28: The Golden Eagles (9-16, 6-9) suffered its third-straight loss up in FVC action against the conference leading Warriors. Kerri Healy led Jacobs with 12 points while Courtney Pahl had 8 points.
