Man dies after fleeing car crash in Elgin

A man died after fleeing the scene of a car crash in Elgin, authorities said.

Police were notified at 2:01 p.m. Friday about the single-vehicle crash at the intersection of Larkin and Highland avenues, according to an Elgin police Facebook post. The two occupants of the vehicle had fled the scene.

Both occupants were located by police and one of them was injured. The man was taken to Presence St. Joseph Hospital, where he died, police said.
