On saints and deficits
In response to Mr. Ley's offering "Why all the fuss over tax plan?" of Dec. 31, we can safely say that we, the U.S. electorate, do not and never have put saints in the office of president. A reminder: It was during the presidency of Clinton that a balanced budget and erasure of the federal deficit occurred. I'd also say that most of us agree that a major national debt is not a good thing to pass on to our descendants. We should be decreasing, not increasing, the debt and the deficit.
