Six District 62 teachers earn National Board Certification

Six teachers in Des Plaines Elementary School District 62 recently earned National Board Certification, which is regarded as the most prestigious certification in kindergarten through high school education.

Jennifer Bergstrom, Jennifer Duncan, Leah Strom, Christine Trujillo, Stephanie Wubbena and Joanne Zienty earned the certification, the district announced. Recognized as the "gold standard" in teacher certification, the National Board believes higher standards for teachers means better learning for students.

The National Board announced this year that 5,470 teachers across the country earned new certifications, and 337 of those teachers are from Illinois.

A total of 30 teachers from District 62 have earned National Board Certification.
