Algonquin dentist charged with sexual assault
An Algonquin dentist is facing criminal charges that he sexually assaulted someone at his practice, authorities said.
Eman A. Shirazi, 42, of Lakewood, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in connection with a Jan. 11 sexual assault that occurred at Water Tower Family Dental, 1496 Merchant Drive, according to a news release from Algonquin police. The victim had a "professional relationship" with Shirazi and his business, but was not an employee there.
Algonquin police said they have not received any other reports of similar incidents at the practice, which Shirazi acquired in 2005, according to the business' website.
Shirazi is charged with criminal sexual assault, criminal sexual abuse and unlawful restraint, officials said. He is being transferred to the McHenry County jail, where he will await a bond hearing. An investigation is ongoing.
