Shame takes a toll

For the last 55 years of my life, at no time during my known understanding of democracy have I ever experienced the shame I now feel for the office of the United States presidency.

The person posing as our president confirms my personal angst with each thoughtless tweet and every damning remark made for two purposes and two purposes only. To bring attention to his misguided cause of elitist persona and to fire up the 20 percent of our populace that lives off his racial hate, bias of entitlement and most notably the general treatment of anyone who does not look or act like what has been ingrained in their minds.

This may seem like harsh rhetoric, but prove me wrong. Show me our country is not being run by an unfettered business establishment that cares little for most people and endears only to those who have coasted through life on the coattails of the desolate and downtrodden.

Open your eyes and ears to the fact America has fallen from the grace of world leadership. We are only dealt with by other countries because their survival depends on kissing the ring of economic salvation. The days of equality and justice while trying to make a buck are over as long as this current presidential administration continues.

And yes, the elevation of Wall Street is a plus, but is the dignity and appreciation of America worth the price?

Some have been led astray by the jeers and jolts of one person seeking to find the best method of anarchy for toppling a system of government that has survived multiple international conflicts and one civil war.

Let us not create another civil battleground when the reason for division lies directly before us.
