Resources for Community Living to celebrate 25th anniversary

Submitted by Resources for Community Living

On Saturday, April 7, Rolling Meadows-based Resources for Community Living will celebrate its 25th anniversary with a benefit gala hosted at Sanfilippo Estate in Barrington.

Resources for Community Living supports opportunities for adults with developmental and/or physical disabilities through independent housing options and other support services.

The evening will feature appetizers and dinner, as well as music, raffle drawing and live and silent auctions. There will also be an opportunity to ride the 100-year-old carousel and view the unique musical collection at the Estate.

"We are very excited to be celebrating our 25th year helping give the gift of independent living to people in Northwest suburban Chicago," said Fred Stupen, executive director at Resources for Community Living. "Please help give the gift of independent living by joining the celebration. We are looking forward to honoring our partners, volunteers, and clients as part of the upcoming celebration."

In addition to attendance, opportunities include event sponsorships, advertising and donations for auction items. For information about the anniversary gala, call (847) 701-1554, ext. 5.

Tickets can be reserved by visiting the Resources for Community Living website rescoliv.org or on Eventbrite.

"We have seen the positive effect independent living has on an individual's self-esteem and their ability to actively participate in their communities," said Stupen. "This success has led to an even greater demand for our services. To further support the community, it is our goal to develop a Social Enterprise that will help train individuals with disabilities through vocational training, work experience, small business development, and personal finance coaching."
