Couple in their 80s die in Gary house fire

GARY, Ind. (AP) - Authorities say a space heater probably played a role in a fire that killed two people in northwestern Indiana.

Isiah Hunter and Joella Hunter died in the fire early Saturday at a house in Gary. They were in their 80s. A 15-year-old girl was seriously injured.

Gary fire department spokesman Mark Jones says the fire appears to be an accident. He says a space heater in the basement might have ignited combustible material.
