Residents Volunteer at Children's Home and Aid

Late last month, residents and staff of Friendship Village made their annual visit to Children's Home and Aid in Schaumburg to deliver parent pantry donations and visit with the children. Residents generously donated laundry detergent, toothpaste, paper towels and other everyday living essentials they had collected, which will be used by the parents of the children at the facility.

Members of the Friendship Village Choir led by resident Sue Young, sang interactive songs to the children who ranged in age from infant to five years old. The children enjoyed the performance so much, they asked their teachers if they could hug the residents afterward. The request was accepted, and enjoyed by all.

"The program wrapped up a year during which Friendship Village residents volunteered a total of 5,592 hours at Friendship Village as well as throughout the Schaumburg community," said Jeannette Magdaleno, manager of lifelong learning and volunteer services. "Residents of Friendship Village love volunteering, and Children's Home and Aid holds a special place in their hearts. This is an annual outing we all look forward to."
