Elk Grove police department available for online transactions

Elk Grove Village is opening its doors for online sellers and buyers to conduct transactions.

The police department is designating its facility at 901 Wellington Ave. as a "safe trade" or "meet-up" spot. Police said the program will help the community by preventing online scams that are usually difficult to solve. It also provides a safe location for online sellers to meet up with buyers.

The village is offering two "meet-up" spots. One is in the police department lobby and the other in a police department parking lot.
