LCC director of Disaster Response installed as deaconess

On Tuesday, Dec. 19, Deaconess Kathy O'Day was officially commissioned and installed as a deaconess within her position as director of Disaster Response at Lutheran Church Charities. The diaconal vocation is a role within the church that is dedicated to the service of others and advancing the proclamation of Jesus Christ to those in need.

Deaconess O'Day has embodied those principles of service within disaster response and in all aspects of the mission at Lutheran Church Charities. Present for the installation were the Rev. Roger Pollock, Lutheran Church Charities congregational ambassador, who performed the installation rite, along with the Rev. Joshua Gale, Lutheran Church Charities executive director, and the Rev. Karl Fay, O'Day's pastor from Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Palatine.

Deaconesses, including Kristin Wassalik, director of Deaconess Program, Concordia University; Lisa Molotla, Immanuel, Des Plaines; Rogene Lis, Trinity, Roselle; and Dianna Bonfield, Lutheran Church Charities volunteer coordinator, joined O'Day for her installation and the pinning ceremony.
