Dunn feels better, but still questionable for Bulls' trip to Washington
Bulls coach Fred Hoiberg thinks there's a chance point guard Kris Dunn plays in Sunday's matinee game at Washington.
Dunn was a late scratch on Friday against Indiana with patellar tendinitis in his left knee. That can be a tough injury to predict.
"Kris feels a lot better this morning than he did before the game last night," Hoiberg said before Saturday's practice at the Advocate Center. "He won't participate in any practice today. He's in there getting rehab right now. He will travel. And we'll make the final decision tomorrow.
"The important thing is he's making progress. I'd say questionable that he'll play, 50-50. If he makes as much progress tomorrow as he did today, there is a chance."
Dunn has been a catalyst in the Bulls' surprising improvement, but they managed to beat Indiana without him as Jerian Grant collected 12 assists.
LaVine shuns brace:
Zach LaVine walked onto the floor ready for Saturday's practice without a brace on his surgically-repaired left knee.
"Yeah, I feel a lot more comfortable on the court now," he said. "(It's about) comfort level. It's heavy. It's like adding three pounds on your leg. So I made the decision to not go with it. It's safe. It's more between me and the doctor and stuff like that, so I appreciate that."
LaVine is looking forward to his six consecutive days of practice, even though he knows it will be tough.
"Yeah, definitely. I'm going through 5-6 straight days of practice. Full on, full blast," he said. "I expect to be sore. If I'm not sore, I wasn't going hard enough. They're calling it my training camp so I should be pretty darn sore."
Long-range record:
The Bulls tied a franchise record Friday for 3-pointers in a game. They made 18 of 39 shots from long range in the win over the Pacers at the United Center. The Bulls previously made 18 3-pointers on 32 attempts against Utah on March 12, 2011.
Nikola Mirotic had 8 made 3s, one short of the team record. Mirotic made 9 3s himself on March 23, 2016 against New York. Ben Gordon did it twice, including his 9-for-9 game in 2006.
Mirotic's 16 3-point attempts Friday were one short of the high in the NBA this season. Houston's James Harden tossed up 17 (and made 6) on Nov. 1 at New York.

Outlook: The Wizards (20-16) have been steady this season and are in contention for a top-four seed in the East. SG Bradley Beal has been healthy and leads the team at 22.9 points. PG John Wall is at 18.2 points and 8.7 assists, while SF Otto Porter Jr. is averaging 14.9 ppg. This is the first meeting this season between these teams. The Bulls went 1-3 against the Wizards last season and have dropped four straight in Washington.
