Geneva sets Christmas tree collection schedule

Geneva residents will have two opportunities to dispose of their live Christmas trees for free during January.

Trees will be picked up on residents' garbage collection day the weeks of Jan. 1 and Jan. 8 by Advanced Disposal, the City of Geneva's waste hauler.

People must place their live tree at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on their scheduled day.

Due to the New Year's Day holiday, garbage pickup will take place one day later than normal the week of Jan. 1.

No refuse stickers will be required for this service.

Ornaments, hooks, nails, tinsel, garland, tree stands and other hard materials should be removed from the trees prior to disposal. Trees placed in bags at the curb will not be accepted.

All wreaths and roping must be discarded with the regular trash.

For information, call the Geneva Public Works Department at (630) 232-1501.
