Aurora police investigating two shootings

Aurora police say they're investigating two shootings over the holiday weekend, including one that left a man seriously wounded.

In the first, a 37-year-old Aurora man was shot around 11:15 p.m. Saturday while inside his home on the 1100 block of Superior Street.

Police said the shooting apparently occurred after the victim and another man argued. Authorities said the other man pulled out a handgun, fired several shots and fled.

The victim was treated for wounds that did not seem life-threatening at an Aurora hospital and then was airlifted to another suburban hospital.

Earlier that same night, around 9:55 p.m., a 38-year-old Chicago man said he was shot at while riding his bicycle on the 1300 block of Monomoy Street.

The victim said he saw two men appear from around the corner of an apartment building and that one of the men fired several shots at him. The victim took cover behind a vehicle and said he believes the men ran north when the shooting stopped.

Police said nothing appeared to be hit by the gunfire.

Anyone with information about either shooting is asked to call police at (630) 256-5500 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000.
