Wheeling Police Department hosts 'Shopping With the Cops'

On Saturday, Dec. 16, the Wheeling Police Department partnered with Walmart to provide a merrier Christmas for 25 families.

The day started at 7:30 a.m. for the children with breakfast that was provided by the Knights of Columbus. The children and their families were provided with a $230 Walmart gift card. Each child was paired with a police officer, shopped and had their presents wrapped by volunteers. The children also had a visit with Santa Claus.

"The event is a great way for our officers to interact with the community. The officers truly care about this event and enjoy spending time with the kids," said Chief of Police James J. Dunne said.
