Arlington Heights program matches residents with teen snow shovelers
Arlington Heights residents over 60 or those with a disability who need their snow shoveled this season - and teens who want to help - can sign up for the village's annual shoveling referral program.
Residents can call the senior center at (847) 253-5532 for a list of teenagers who have signed up to shovel, or fill out a request form on the village's website. Teens can also fill out a participation form online.
Officials say the resident and teen should work out the areas to be shoveled, the time to be shoveled, and the cost of job, though $10-15 per hour is recommended.
The program was initiated by the village's youth commission and endorsed by the senior citizens commission and commission for citizens with disabilities.
