Boys swimming: Fremd, Barrington go to 3-0 in MSL West
Fremd charged through its first three Mid-Suburban West dual meets without a loss, completing that streak with a 111-92 victory on Friday at Conant.
Vikings freshman John Ponte was a double winner, taking top honors in the 200-yard freestyle (1:52.47) and the 100 free (51.26).
Senior diver Zach Mega soared to a winning score of 297.30 for Fremd, which also got wins from Alex Schillinger (200 IM, 2:05.29), Yoochan Lee (50 free, 22.20) and Andre Ballo (100 back, 1:04.08).
Conant's victories came from junior Justin Lim in the 100 fly (54.54) and from Jake Lydon in the 500 free (5:27.94).
Barrington d. Palatine: The Broncos improved to 3-0 in dual meets against MSL West teams by defeating the host Pirates 108-77.
Sophomore Jack Hoppe was a key performer for Barrington, with wins in the 200 free (1:52.00), 100 breaststroke (1:03.20) and legs on the winning medley and 400 freestyle relays.
Steven Fischer and Sam Burrell also had legs on those winning relays. In addition, Fischer won the 50 free (22.34) and the 100 back (56.42).
The Broncos also had a win from Daniel Langlois in the 500 free (5:03.96) and from Steven Latimer in diving (212.30).
Palatine counted victories from Stefan Filip in the 200 IM (2:12.80), Christian Snyder in the 100 fly (56.61) and Sean O'Brien in the 100 free (51.34).
The Pirates also had the winning 200 free relay, as O'Brien, Noah Chon, Jake Klein and Snyder finished in 1:35.31.
