Brown's free throw lifts Vernon Hills

Tony Brown hit a clutch free throw to seal Vernon Hills' 57-56 win over visiting Rochelle Zell Jewish in nonconference boys basketball action Wednesday night.

Luke Perlin led the Cougars (3-7) with 13 points, while Payton Foster (12) and Derrick Jones (10) also scored in double figures.

Vernon Hills next plays on Dec. 27, when the Cougars open the Wheeling Hardwood Classic with a 9 a.m. tipoff against Niles North.
