Daily Herald Holiday Lights Contest, Fox Valley Editor's Choice Winner

Five Editor's Choice winners were selected in the Daily Herald Holiday Lights Contest, plus an overall winner as voted on by readers.

The Fox Valley winner, Jeff Wagner, answered some questions about his display at 3152 Primrose St. in Elgin.

Q. How long have you been decorating your house like this?

A. For about five years now. The entire display keeps getting bigger and bigger each year.

Q. What inspired you to go all out with your decorations?

A. I have always enjoyed the holiday season and lights. Ever since I was a kid I have always been into Christmas lights.

Q. How many hours does it take to put up the display?

A. The entire display can take up to 40 hours to get everything setup and configured for the light show.

Q. How many strings of lights are involved?

A. Too many to count! Although it is probably close to 250.

Q. How much does your electric bill spike in December?

A. Almost all of the display is LED, so it's only around $40 more.

Q. What do your neighbors think of your display?

A. Nothing but compliments, especially from the kids. We are known as the Christmas Light house!
