Hagedorn family establishes Giving Tree at Frisbie Senior Center

The Frisbie Senior Center is pleased to announce it has received a $10,000 gift from Richard Hagedorn in memory of his parents, Clifford and Valerie Hagedorn. These funds will support the establishment of The Clifford & Valerie Hagedorn Giving Tree Program.

The Clifford & Valerie Hagedorn Giving Tree Program provides an opportunity for individuals, families, and businesses to celebrate, commemorate and remember loved ones in their name with a gift to the Frisbie Senior Center. The funds raised through this program will support the daily operations of the Frisbie Senior Center in order to support socialization, recreation, education, and healthy lifestyles for active older adults.

Often referred to as one of its Founding Fathers, Clifford Hagedorn championed the center, its mission, and the many benefits it provided. He, and his wife, Valerie, eagerly promoted and attended the many programs, activities, and events, and were active supporters of its growth and evolution over the years.

Clifford Hagedorn often reached out to his vast network of contacts to garner support and donations that helped turn organizational dreams into reality, and he was instrumental in helping to relocate the Senior Center from West School to the Prairie Lakes facility in 1992.

Clifford Hagedorn was a member of the Center's board of directors for over 20 years; he also served as a Director Emeritus from 1999 until his passing.

"I could not think of a better way to memorialize Cliff and Val and their many, many contributions to the center over the years," said Stephen Samuelson, president and CEO of the Frisbie Senior Center. "Cliff and I often had conversations about how people could give back to this organization that has provided so much to them in their golden years - the Giving Tree is such great way to mark their legacy."

The Frisbie Senior Center is a drop-in activity center for active adults 55+ living in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago. Through the Center, daily users have access to a 20,000-square foot, ADA-accessible facility that offers more than 100 different programs and service types - some occurring multiple times throughout the month. Aside from a variety of social and recreational activities offered, The Frisbie Senior Center also serve as a resource clearinghouse, connecting individuals with organizations that can provide much-needed services to address the issues facing today's seniors.
