Barrington chamber announces 2018 Business Award nominees

The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the 2018 nominees for its annual "Spirit of Excellence" Business Awards.

Nominees were selected by the membership for recognition in the following categories: Hospitality Member of the Year, New Business of the Year, Chamber Volunteer of the Year, Community Partner of the Year, and Rookie of the Year. The community and the BACC membership is encouraged to cast their vote to select the top recipients by visiting www.BarringtonChamber.com.

Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce award winners will be announced at Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce's Annual Dinner & Scholarship Fundraiser Thursday, Jan. 18, at The Stonegate Conference and Banquet Centre, 2401 W. Higgins Road, in Hoffman Estates.

Tickets are $50 per chamber member, $65 per nonmember, and $95 per member and guest.

Hospitality Member of the Year Award honors a member that has become a popular gathering space bringing community together; a venue that is a go-to destination for entertainment; and brings vibrancy to the community. This year, nominees for Hospitality Member of the Year are: Flesk Brewing Company, The Onion Pub & Brewery, Remember Charlotte's Pizza and Ruth's Chris Steak House.

New Business of the Year Award honors a chamber business that has come on to the scene with enthusiasm and innovation, bringing something new and fresh to the business community. Contenders are: Designed by Stacey Jewelry, Kimmie-Kakes Handcrafted Gift Boutique, MS Moda and Nothing Bundt Cakes.

Community Partner of the Year Award honors a business or not-for-profit association that has distinguished themselves in the community as innovators, resulting in the advancement of a cause or project in the Barrington area that has improved the lives of others and the quality of our community. Nominees are: Barrington Rotary Clubs, The Build Team, Heinen's Grocery Store and Marquardt of Barrington Buick-GMC.

Volunteer of the Year Award honors a chamber member who has given unselfishly, contributing as a constant promoter and ambassador, actively attending and supporting events and other BACC members. Nominees are: Ellen Corey, Coaching by Corey; Marianne Guinee, 4ci Management - Balancing Life's Challenges; Norman May, Full Service Office Solutions; and Melinda McElroy, billet-doux stationary and invitations.

Rookie of the Year Award honors a chamber member who has recently joined the chamber and become involved with vigor and passion, bringing new energy to the organization and showing the value of the Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce experience. New members nominated are: Lisa Earnhart, LM Harrison & Associates CPA; Linda Gump, College Nannies+Sitters+Tutors; Lori Rowe, Coldwell Banker; and Pam Weiss, IKOR.
