Deer Park warns of ruse burglaries

Deer Park officials are warning the public about ruse burglaries that have occurred recently in the village and neighboring towns.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office, which covers Deer Park, informed village officials that on Dec. 6 a resident had an unknown person enter a home purportedly to look at water lines. The resident later noticed jewelry missing.

Authorities stressed that no one should be allowed into a house unless invited. Strangers allowed into a home should be watched carefully, officials said.
