Local arts community performs at 'Elgin Celebrates the Holidays!' Dec. 17

Discover this city's talented performing arts community while rejoicing in the season with the annual "Elgin Celebrates the Holidays!" from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at the Hemmens, 45 Symphony Way in Elgin.

The afternoon will feature Elgin's highly talented local performing arts groups. Eastern Groove Studio, BFH (formerly Ballet Folklorico Huehuecoyotl), Elgin Master Chorale's Children's Chorus, the Children's Theatre of Elgin, and Integrity School of Dance will join together to present an afternoon of holiday entertainment that includes dance, chorale music, numbers from "Elf the Musical" and more. Steve Thoren, an award-winning announcer and emcee, will act as the master of ceremonies for the event.

It will include the heartwarming sounds of the Elgin Youth Symphony Orchestra's Sterling Brass Quartet will provide walk-in music in the lobby prior to the performance and at intermission.

General admission tickets are $10 and can be purchased from participating groups or at the Hemmens box office in person, by phone at (847) 931-5900 or online at www.hemmens.org. Parking is free.

All proceeds from the event go to Elgin's participating performing arts groups.
