Woodland teachers, students team up to help less fortunate
Teachers and students from Woodland Elementary West School in Gages Lake spent Wednesday afternoon shopping at Target in Gurnee for food and other items for their less fortunate classmates.
The annual Shop with an Educator event is part of an ongoing food drive in Gurnee-based Woodland Elementary District 50. The food drive will continue at all Woodland schools through Dec. 11.
"The annual drive is a staff-driven tradition of providing additional support to Woodland families during the holiday season," District 50 Superintendent Joy Swoboda said.
The district also is collecting new hats and mittens and new or gently used books to give families over the holiday season.
