Third armed robbery in 24 hours strikes Naperville

Less than 24 hours after two armed robberies targeting drivers in Naperville, police received a report of a third case at a convenience store, authorities said.

The 7-Eleven at Route 59 and Diehl Road on the city's northwest side reported the robbery about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Cmdr. Lou Cammiso said in a news release.

No one was injured when police said two suspects entered the store - one of them with a handgun - and demanded money. The robbers got away on foot heading south with an undisclosed amount of cash.

Police said witnesses described the suspect with the gun as a black man about 6 feet tall with a thin build who was wearing dark clothing and a mask. The other suspect is described as a black man with a medium build who was wearing dark clothing.

The report of the holdup at the 7-Eleven came less than a day after two other armed robberies in Naperville, at 9 and 10 p.m. Monday, when a driver who had just used an ATM and a pizza delivery driver were robbed in separate cases, police said.

Police are asking anyone with information about any of the robberies to contact the investigations division at (630) 420-6666.
