Prospect Heights honors its veterans

Prospect Heights Mayor Nicholas J. Helmer and the city council honored local veterans with a presentation of the city's Honors Our Heroes banners at the Monday, Nov. 13, city council meeting.

Local veterans were nominated to be honored with personalized hero banners, which were displayed along Milwaukee Avenue from Memorial Day until Veterans Day. The banners were then taken down and presented to the heroes as mementos of a grateful community for their sacrifice and service to our great country.

The following local heroes were honored: Sergeant Allen J. Lynch, U.S. Army; Sergeant Don Smith, U.S. Army; Hospital Corpsman George Blinick, U.S. Navy; Chief Petty Officer James Frohnapfel, U.S. Navy; 1st Lieutenant Joe Meinike, U.S. Army; Petty Officer First Class Marc Albertario, U.S. Navy; Corporal Michael Ricard, U.S. Marine Corps; Specialist E-5 Nick Helmer, U.S. Army, Europe; Specialist 5 Paul Fisher, U.S. Army; Specialist 5 Paul Fries, U.S. Army; Corporal Raymond Suerth, U.S. Army; Specialist Fifth Class Rich Tibbits, U.S. Army; Sergeant Robert Williamson, U.S. Army; Corporal Sal Marsiglia, U.S. Army; Sergeant William E. Messer, U.S. Marine Corps; Steve Drummond, U.S. Air Force; Anthony Roma, U.S. Air Force; Thomas Bauer, U.S. Army; Patrick Murray, U.S. Marine Corps; Jason Noga, U.S. Army; Michael Lynch, U.S. Marine Corps; Jon Tammen, U.S. Navy; Alfred Kotlarz, U.S. Navy; Richard Sullivan, U.S. Army.
