NIU tops Manhattan 70-68 for 7th at Gulf Coast Showcase

ESTERO, Fla. (AP) - Levi Bradley made a floater in the lane with 15 seconds left, Eugene German had a block at the other end and Northern Illinois held off Manhattan 70-68 on Wednesday in the seventh-place game of the Gulf Coast Showcase.

After Bradley's go-ahead basket, Manhattan's Thomas Capuano had a 3-pointer blocked in the corner by German. The Jaspers inbounded it with 0.3 seconds left but the tip-in attempt was no good.

Bradley finished with 22 points on 9-of-12 shooting and German had 18 points and seven rebounds for NIU (3-2). Dante Thorpe added 10 points and five assists.

Rich Williams led Manhattan (2-3) with four 3-pointers and 24 points. Pauly Paulicap had 17 points, eight rebounds and four blocks, and Calvin Crawford added 11 points. The Jaspers were 10 of 28 from distance but only made 8 of 14 free throws.
