Naperville man accused of possessing child porn
A 34-year-old Naperville man was charged with possession of child pornography after two police departments collaborated to investigate his internet activity, authorities said Wednesday.
Joseph W. Lureau, 34, of the 3700 block of Candeur Drive, faces four counts of felony possession of child porn, Naperville Cmdr. Lou Cammiso said.
Police took Lureau into custody Wednesday after a search of his house revealed evidence of child pornography. After the search about 12:30 p.m., the Will County state's attorney's office approved charges against Lureau.
Naperville police officers in the high technology crimes unit caught wind of Lureau's suspected activity from members of the Wheaton Police Department's internet crimes unit, who told them someone at a Naperville address had child pornography and was distributing it online, Cammiso said.
The specialized units at both departments are affiliated with a task force of the Illinois Attorney General's office, which investigates internet crimes against children.
