Arlington Heights police get reaccreditation

The Arlington Heights Police Department has been reaccredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies after a review of the department's policy and procedures, management, operations and support services.

It's the fourth time the department has achieved accreditation status, following certifications in 2008, 2011 and 2014. Accreditation reflects recognition of law enforcement best practices.

Village Manager Randy Recklaus praised the department at Monday night's village board meeting, noting the Advanced Law Enforcement Accreditation Award came amid the department being in a temporary headquarters and with retirements of senior members of the command staff.
