History teacher speaks Sunday at Elgin Vineyard

In the continuing spirit of the holiday week, the history of the First Thanksgiving and its implications will be the sermon topic on Sunday, Nov. 26, at Vineyard Church of Elgin, 220 Division St.

History teacher Chuck Kreml will be the guest speaker at both the 9 and 11 a.m. services.

A variety of coffees are offered at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m., and everyone is invited.

"When I consider the event of Thanksgiving, I see how God is at work providentially - over a span of time historically and in lives individually," Kreml said. "He is orchestrating events in many peoples' lives to intersect and to bring about his purposes.

"Of course, his work is on a spiritual plane that transcends major events in history," Kreml said. "To consider Thanksgiving is to be in awe of how he is at work."

On Sunday, Dec. 10, the public also is warmly invited to a Blue Christmas service from 5 to 6 p.m. This service is designed to serve people whose circumstances - finances, illness, grief - make joy elusive. Childcare will be provided.
